Career Coaches can provide you with new insights when you are wondering about changing jobs. Life’s too short to spend hating your work. Can you imagine losing 40 years of your life doing something that causes you to be miserable? That is what will happen if you do not start taking action NOW. Perhaps you are telling yourself that you’re way too old to change your life and look for the job you love. Let me tell you this, you are not too old to learn or do something you truly desire to do. There’s no time such as the present to begin thinking about pursuing your interests, ideals and dreams.
Are you more than 30 years old and trapped in a work you don’t like? Do you fear Monday mornings and pull yourself in to work every single morning? Do you desperately wish to leave your work but feel there’s nothing you can do about it since you are way too old to change your life? Did you realize that many famous and successful people found their true calling after thirty years of age? Paul Gauguin, leading post-impressionist artist, at first worked as a stockbroker and he started painting full time in 1883 when he was 35. I can provide you with many examples of famous people who changed their lives after 30 years of age and became prosperous, completely happy and satisfied with the work they do.
Before you begin thinking about your ideal work, dream job or a new career, the very first step you have to take will be to express your perfect life. Ask yourself these questions: What do I like my life to look like? How would I like to spend my days? What would my perfect life be like? It is very important to answer these questions before you evaluate various work options. For instance, you might like to open a Bed & Breakfast however, if you do not like dealing with people, opening a B&B is a terrible choice. If you love staying at home, working in a business office where you need to devote forty hours weekly will not make you contented. You need to make sure that the work you will choose suits your ideal life.
Look for a quiet place where you won’t be disrupted. Relax your body and mind. Take as much time as you need to jot down your responses. Be sure to write with a sense of enthusiasm and interest! If you don’t like writing, you can invite your friends over and describe your ideal life to them (Ask them to give you a lot of encouragement!). Don’t be held back for a moment by thoughts like “It’s not possible!” Don’t censor; just let it flow. Imagine you’re living each day to the fullest!
